The Slovenian retail company Merkur is a new member of the international purchasing cooperative Arena. Merkur has been working with Arena in the DIY, home and garden sectors since 30 June 2025. The company is also active in the construction and workshop sectors. Merkur has 34 locations in Slovenia, including 24 of its own retail outlets and ten franchise locations; it also has an online shop for home and garden at merkur.si. Founded in 1896, the company employs almost 1,300 people.

With the new member from Slovenia, the number of DIY store operators working as cooperation partners with Arena has grown to eleven. The existing members are Le Groupement Les Mousquetaires (France), Hagebau (Germany), Jumbo (Switzerland), Gruppo Bricofer (Italy), Dedeman (Romania), Pevex (Croatia), Maxeda DIY Group (Benelux), Groupe BMR (Canada), Kent Building Supplies (Canada) and Woodie's (Ireland).
