In Switzerland, DIY store sales increased by 5.8 per cent to CHF 3.92 bn (EUR 3.91 bn) in 2021. This was reported by the German DIY retail association BHB. In the first quarter of 2021, sales rose by 46.5 per cent (CHF 0.90 bn. EUR 0.90 bn), although this too is calculated at a lockdown period in 2020. In the second quarter, sales increased by 3.6 per cent (CHF 1.25 bn, EUR 1.25 bn) before declining by 8.3 per cent (CHF 0.86 bn, EUR 0.86 bn) in the third quarter and by 3.6 per cent (CHF 0.91 bn, EUR 0.91 bn) in the fourth quarter.

The plant sector recorded a surprisingly large increase of 20 per cent. Wood was also in strong demand with plus 13.1 per cent.
