The German home improvement retail chain Bauhaus is continuing its expansion in Switzerland and has announced its eighth branch in the country. On 5 March 2027, the company will open its new store in Langenthal. The site is a shopping centre formerly operated by the Swiss retail group Migros. Last year, Migros withdrew from the non-food sector with its own specialist formats.

By investing in this site, situated in the triangle between Bern, Basel and Zurich, Bauhaus – the DIY market leader in Germany – believes it is strengthening its presence in the canton of Bern and expanding its range of products and services for private and commercial customers in Oberaargau and the surrounding regions. For the new site, the former M-Parc property – a former cloth factory that had been converted by Migros – is currently being refurbished and adapted to meet the new requirements.
