In contrast to earlier announcements, the Australian chain of DIY stores Bunnings wants to significantly expand its pilot store programme in the UK and Ireland. Twenty stores are now planned by the end of 2017. That's twice as many as previously expected. The announcement coincides with the opening of the fourth Bunnings Warehouse in Milton Keynes, the largest in the UK and Ireland to date. The store, on the site of the former Homebase in Snowdon Drive, occupies around 9 000 m², and employs 140 team members. According to accounts from the company, the increase in the number of Bunnings Warehouse pilots follows a positive response from customers to the first pilot stores in St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.
