Completion of the acquisition of Homebase

Westfarmers' acquisition of the Homebase business from Home Retail Group has been completed. The Australian retail group announced this on Saturday, one day after the shareholders of the Homebase parent company Home Retail Group had approved the sales proposal.
"We welcome our new employees and are excited about the opportunity to bring the best of Bunnings to the UK and Ireland," said Westfarmers' Managing Director Richard Goyder. Around 15 000 Homebase employees in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be taken over by Westfarmers.
