The Chinese technology company Ldrobot, based in Shenzhen, plans to acquire Sabo Maschinenfabrik GmbH, a German manufacturer of premium and professional-grade garden and landscaping equipment. The companies announced this in a press release. The aim is to strategically combine Sabo’s experience in developing professional lawn care technology with Ldrobot’s technological expertise in the fields of robotics, sensor technology and artificial intelligence. The Sabo brand is to remain independent; the existing management team, led by Lars Daniel, will continue to shape the company’s future development.
Ldrobot was founded in 2017 and ranks among the most innovative technology companies in the field of intelligent robotic systems. The company’s core competencies include multimodal sensor hardware, AI algorithms and technologies for spatial environmental perception.
A particular focus of the future collaboration will be on the rapidly growing market for autonomous and robot-assisted lawn care. The aim is not to replace the existing portfolio, but to expand it in a targeted manner. With its Anthbot brand, Ldrobot already has experience in the market for robot-assisted lawn care.
“The global market for AI-based autonomous robotic systems for the home is set to enter a phase of exceptionally dynamic growth. The planned acquisition of Sabo combines Ldrobot’s technological innovation with an established European industrial platform,” said Vic Zhou, Chairman of Ldrobot, commenting on the planned collaboration.
Just three years ago, the then owner, Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, sold 100 per cent of its shares in the company to Sabo Holding GmbH – in which long-standing Sabo manager Lars Daniel and an investor held stakes – after just three years.
