Holcim has signed an agreement to acquire Fermacell from James Hardie Industries plc. Fermacell is a supplier of wall and floor covering solutions with projected net turnover of around 430 million euros for 2026. The company manufactures gypsum fibre and cement-bonded boards under the Fermacell and Aestuver brands. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
Fermacell, headquartered in Düsseldorf, employs more than 1,000 people and operates six production sites across 13 European markets. The acquisition is intended to expand Holcim’s offering in the areas of wall and floor coverings as well as fire protection. “This strategic acquisition is a further milestone in our vision of being the leading partner for sustainable construction, and expands Holcim’s building materials solutions in line with our ‘Next-Gen Growth 2030’ strategy. Fermacell and Aestuver will complement Holcim’s brands Ytong, Silka, Hebel and Multipor – thereby expanding our range of integrated building systems and modular construction methods,” explains Holcim CEO Miljan Gutovic.
Holcim is a manufacturer of building materials and construction solutions – from foundations and floor coverings to wall and roof structures. The company achieved net sales of CHF 15.7 billion in 2025.
