DIY stores in Italy reported stable turnover in the first half of the year. From January to May 2026, they generated a turnover of 2.5045 billion euros. This represented a 0.2 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025. These figures are taken from the study “GDS Report – Monitoraggio Giugno 2026” by NIQ-GfK in collaboration with the industry service diyandgarden.com.
The growth was primarily driven by the gardening sector, which grew by 6 per cent. Whilst the automotive and household appliances product groups recorded higher growth rates, their share of total turnover remains in the low single-digit percentage range. Of the four major product groups with shares exceeding 10 per cent, only the building materials range saw an increase (up 1 per cent).
