The German Hornbach Group achieved a 2.5 per cent increase in sales compared to the same period last year with its DIY stores in the third quarter (ending 30 November 2025) of its 2025/2026 financial year, generating sales of EUR 1.4435 bn. In Germany, sales rose by only 0.4 per cent to EUR 664.1 million, while abroad, the DIY store chain achieved growth of 4.4 per cent to EUR 779.4 mio. Adjusted for floor space, sales rose by 0.2 per cent.
In its regular quarterly report, the company confirmed the figures for the group as a whole that were announced two weeks ago. According to this, Hornbach Holding's turnover rose by 2.2 per cent to EUR 1.5387 bn compared to the same quarter last year.
In the first three quarters as a whole, the group's DIY division, Hornbach Baumarkt AG, recorded turnover of EUR 4.8471 bn, up 4.0 per cent on the previous year's level. Its DIY stores in Germany generated sales of EUR 2.2756 bn during this period, an increase of 2.1 per cent, while its international locations increased their sales by 5.8 per cent to EUR 2.5716 bn. The division's like-for-like growth amounted to 2.6 per cent. Adjusted for sales area and currency effects, sales rose by 4.3 per cent. The share of international sales increased to 53.1 per cent.
Market shares expanded
According to Hornbach, its DIY store business grew faster than the industry as a whole in both Germany and other European countries, thereby expanding its market share. According to GfK, the market share in the 2025 calendar year (January to October) increased compared with the same period of the previous year to 15.7 per cent (+0.6 percentage points) in Germany, to 17.6 per cent (+0.4 points) in Austria, to 38.8 per cent (+1.1 points) in Czechia, to 29.1 per cent (+1.3 points) in the Netherlands and to 15.1 per cent (+0.6 points) in Switzerland.
The share of online sales (including Click & Collect) in Hornbach Baumarkt AG's total sales rose to 12.9 per cent in the first nine months of the financial year. Compared with the same period last year, online sales grew by 8.1 per cent to EUR 625.2 mio, with direct mail order and Click & Collect both increasing equally.
