Maxeda wants to sell locations to franchisees

The Dutch Maxeda DIY Group is selling at least ten of its Baumarkt locations to franchisees. This has been reported by Belgian and Dutch trade media, including Mixpress. The Belgian daily newspaper Het Nieuwsblad was the first to report that the group wanted to sell four stores in Belgium and the Netherlands and two in Luxembourg in order to reduce its debt. The reports mention a figure of EUR 100 mio. The property sales are expected to generate EUR 20 mio.

The Maxeda DIY Group operates 184 Praxis stores in the Netherlands, 45 of which are franchise stores. In Belgium, it operates the Brico brand with 138 stores, 83 of which are franchise stores, as well as 14 Brico-Planit stores under its own management.
