Lifetime Award for John Herbert in Greece

John Herbert, co-founder and managing director of the international DIY chain Edra/Ghin, was today presented with the DIY Lifetime Award of the Greek industry in Athens, which is presented by the publishing house Karydakis Media. CEO Prokopis Karydakis justified the choice of the award winner with his conviction, which he shares with many in the industry, „that this man is the most important personality in the DIY industry in the world“. He expressed his gratitude for the support he has received in the 20 years since he first met him: „John Herbert has communicated and given valuable advice,“ said Karydakis.

„This is very emotional for me,“ said John Herbert in his acceptance speech, in which he briefly looked back on his 70-year career in retail – as someone who left school without qualifications and started working in a simple grocery store at the age of 15. „Today,“ he said, „I am very fortunate.“ Founding the international trade network Edra/Ghin was the best decision of his life. He wanted to share two things with his audience: namely, how important it is to feel genuine passion for doing everything for your customers – and to treat everyone with respect.

The award ceremony took place during the 16th DIY & Home Improvement Conference, organised by Karydakis Media. A detailed news item will follow.
