A member of the Greek government will also speak at the 16th DIY & Home Improvement Conference in Athens next Wednesday: Minister for Digital Affairs Dimitris Papastergiou will make a statement on digital transformation for a more competitive economy immediately after the opening by Prokopis Karydakis, CEO of the organiser Karydakis Media.

Organised by the Greek specialist publisher, this year's conference on the Greek market is divided into three thematic blocks. The first block will focus on how the customer journey is shaping the future of the market. Journalist and economic analyst Constantinos Davlos will kick off the discussion with his presentation on “The Greek economy in the midst of a housing crisis”. The organisers have secured Klaus Dolmer, CEO of the Danish DIY chain Silvan, as keynote speaker. His topic is “Clicking with customers – how Silvan combines bricks, clicks and convenience”. Xenia Kourtoglou, founder of Focus Bari, will report on a new consumer study. The topic of Olga Fuertes, Managing Director of Montana Colors, is "Freedom to create. Power to transform”.

In the second part of the conference, “The day after”, four start-ups that emerged from the think tank of the Athens University of Economics and Business will take the stage. Ciro Borrelli from Weathernews will discuss how weather-sensitive the retail sector is and how it can use climate data to make smart decisions. A panel discussion will address the impact of technology on the future of construction.

Finally, the third conference block is entitled “AI in DIY”. Thierry Moubax, co-founder and CEO of AI Compass, will explain how the power of AI can be unlocked. Dimitris Magkos, managing director of Nova B2B, will address the challenges of technology and its impact on the market under the motto “A brave new world”. Tom Dujardin, co-founder of DeDuCo, will explain “The innovative multipurpose AI DIY assistant”. The lecture programme will conclude with Elena Barla, co-founder and CEO of Future Brain, and Isidoros Sideridis, CEO of Pobuca, who will discuss the future of work between AI and humanity.

But that's not the end of the congress. The highlight will be the presentation of the DIY Lifetime Award to Edra/Ghin founder and managing director John Herbert.
