The British specialist retail chain Toolstation closed the first half of the year with sales growth of 2.7 per cent year-on-year to GBP 418 mio (EUR 481 mio). Like-for-like growth was 2.9 per cent. At the end of June, there were 591 stores.
Sales in the UK's main market rose by 5 per cent. Business in the Benelux countries, on the other hand, struggled. Although sales at the 109 locations in the Netherlands and Belgium rose by 6 per cent on a like-for-like basis, online sales slumped by 22 per cent due to work on the website. With the improved site now in place, the situation is expected to change in the second half of the year. Toolstation is part of the British building materials trading group Travis Perkins.
