Cencosud loses 6.8 per cent turnover in DIY business

Chilean retail group Cencosud’s home improvement business under the Easy sales brand posted sales of CLP 383.605 bn (EUR 415.44 mio) in the second quarter, down 7.6 per cent from the same period last year. The Home Improvement division closed the first half of the year with sales of CLP 789.571 bn (EUR 855.11 mio), down 6.8 per cent from the same period last year.

In Chile, first-half sales fell 9.5 per cent to CLP 393.727 bn (EUR 426.41 mio). The home improvement activities in Argentina generated sales of CLP 362.043 bn (EUR 392.09 mio). This is 0.4 per cent more than in the same period last year, and 93.4 per cent more after adjusting for exchange rates. In Colombia, Cencosud’s home improvement sales decreased by 35.7 per cent (-23.1 per cent in constant currency) to CLP 50.181 bn (EUR 54.35 mio).
