Edra/Ghin and Hima launch the Global DIY Network

06.10.2020

The Global DIY Network is up and running. The platform was launched because the Global DIY Summit, due to be staged in June 2020, had to be cancelled on account of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now the organisers, the international industry associations Edra/Ghin and Hima, are offering retailers and manufacturers in the home improvement and garden sector worldwide a digital opportunity to exchange information.
Over the coming months, a host of online lectures and discussions will be presented on the platform www.diysummit.org. Edra General Secretary John Herbert will talk to the heads of DIY store groups across the world, for example. Entitled "Meet the CEO", interviews will be aired with Sergio Giroldi of Obi in Germany, Werner de Jager of South African outfit Cashbuild, Declan Ronayne of Woodie's DIY in Ireland, Michael Schneider of the Australian Bunnings company, Hiromasa Tsuchiya of Cainz in Japan, Mattias Ankarberg of Sweden's Byggmax, Veronica Valdez of Promart in Peru and Thierry Garnier of the UK's Kingfisher Group.
Under the heading of "The roadmap to recovery", Ken Hughes will moderate contributions including presentations by Stefano Botter ("Home improvement: challenges and opportunities in light of Covid-19"), Pascal Coppens ("Innovation in times of Covid-19") and Reinier Zuydgeest ("Home improvement consumer market update"). The programme will be expanded on an ongoing basis, according to the organisers.
Registered users have the option of contacting one another via the platform, listening in to webinars and downloading studies.
Anyone who registered for this year's cancelled Global DIY Summit can enjoy complimentary access to the Global DIY Network for one year. Registration for the online platform is also offered free of charge to those who have signed up for the 8th Global DIY Summit 2021 in Copenhagen.
