New dates in June, a revamped concept and expanded range presentation attracted nearly 20 per cent more exhibitors to Tendence, with 1 125 companies from 54 countries heading to Frankfurt. However, roughly ten per cent fewer visitors - over 20 000 according to information from Messe Frankfurt - turned up to see the show, which ran from 24 to 27 June 2017.
With regard to the concept, the trade fair company is calling it a fresh start. The focus was on inspiration for range design, merchandise presentation, customer advertising and events at the POS. In special presentations such as Tendence.Impulse, Concept Store and the new open-air Outdoor Living presentation, the aim was to showcase marketing initiatives in an accessible, forward-looking manner. The show offering was also augmented by the newly established International Sourcing feature in hall 10.1.
The overall exhibition area increased by twelve per cent to 92 000 m², due on the one hand to the expansion of traditional product groups such as Seasonal Decoration or the Laid Table and on the other to the addition of new product segments such as home textiles, pot plants and outdoor furniture and accessories. In addition to items for the autumn/winter 2017 season, separately identified products and collections for spring/summer 2018 were also on show. According to the organiser, this was actively noted by the buyers for wholesale formats, who accounted for a considerably increased proportion of the visitors. All the range increases were made possible by bringing the Tendence dates forward to the end of June, which was advantageous for large-volume retail in particular, but also for European retailers, according to the trade fair company.
