Praktiker Romania has increased the budget allocated for its reshaping process from € 400 000 to € 600 000 for each reshaped store. This brings the total budget for all 20 stores to be modernised this year to € 12 mio. The seven remaining stores are to be revamped in 2018.
Two stores in Ploiesti and in Oradea both reopened in March 2017. The modernisation offensive is part of the company's business strategy, with the concept first being implemented in July 2016 in the store in Bucharest Vitan.
"I have felt the positive effects of this modernisation process since the first store reopened last year in Bucharest (Vitan store), valid in all stores so far included in this programme. It is about sales growth of 40 per cent to 60 per cent for each store reopened modernised," said Mr Susli Omer, owner of Praktiker Romania.
The company also intends to open three more stores in Bucharest. On the other hand, Omer Susli has not ruled out the closure of stores for which the leasing costs are too high.
