There was a significant increase in both visitor and exhibitor numbers at the latest China International Hardware Show (CIHS). The organisers reported an attendance verging on 50 000 people, around 27 per cent more than a year ago. At the same time, the number of exhibitors increased by roughly eight per cent to 2 900. Foreign companies in particular turned out in force, their number more than doubling to 300. The show occupied an area of 150 000 m² in all.
The increase in numbers justify the decision to move the show within Shanghai and move the dates to the second half of October. Running from 21 to 23 October 2015, the event took place in the new National Exhibition & Convention Centre (NECC) for the first time.
The same dates have also been put down for 2016, when the exhibition area is expected to increase by another 10 000 m². One reason for this is the proximity in time to the autumn session of the Canton Fair, so that international buyers can combine visits to the two shows. The layout including the international hall, tools hall, building hardware hall and lockset hall is to be retained. Moreover, a gardening area will be launched in the east hall.
