Merkury Market acquires 18 Baumax stores

The Polish DIY retailer Merkury Market wants to acquire 18 of the 24 stores belonging to the former Austrian market leader Baumax in the Czech Republic. The Czech competition authority is examining the proposed transaction. Established in 1991, Merkury Market has been operating hitherto in Poland and Slovakia. It mainly sells products from the interior decoration and building materials ranges.
