Italian horticulture sets a new record

The Italian horticulture sector has grown by 8.1 per cent compared with the previous year, reaching a production value of around EUR 3.5 bn – a record figure. This is shown by the latest overview of the Italian flower and plant production sector, compiled and published by Myplant & Garden based on data from ISTAT, the Italian National Institute of Statistics.

Over the past ten years, the sector has grown from EUR 2.5 bn to EUR 3.52 bn, recording overall growth of more than 30 per cent. The average annual growth rate stands at 3.3 per cent for floriculture and 3.1 per cent for nursery production.

In 2025, the floristry sector – which comprises flowers and pot plants – accounted for 45.7 per cent of the total value. It reached 1.64 billion euros, representing an increase of 8.2 per cent compared with the previous year. Nursery production accounted for 54.3 per cent and reached 1.88…
