Cheaper products, along with the strong overall performance of mature stores, provided strong support for Philippine home improvement retailing chain Wilcon Depot, Inc.’s sales in the first half of the year.
The company disclosed that it posted a 10.9 per cent rise in sales in the six months ending June 30, to 18.98 bn Philippine pesos (PHP, EUR 624.77 mio).
"Lower-margin non-exclusive products sales growth outperformed the sales growth of the exclusive and in-house brands resulting in the decrease in contribution of the latter to total net sales to 50.5 per cent from 52.3 during the same period last year," the company stated. It added that overall comparative sales expanded 6.6 per cent year on year.
