There has been a change in leadership at Obi in Hungary. On 3 August 2026, Christoph Wackerbauer returned to head up the Hungarian Obi organisation. As Country Manager for Hungary, he has succeeded Christian Brieskorn, who led the Hungarian team for the past nine years and is returning to the German sales division.

Wackerbauer previously headed up Obi Hungary from 2009 to 2015, at that time as Managing Director. He is now moving from the Brüder Schlau Group, where he served as Managing Director for more than six years. Prior to that, he gained international management experience at the medical devices distributor Mediq, as well as at Metro Cash & Carry in Austria and Makro in the UK.
