The six largest DIY store operators in Germany ended 2025 with a decline of 0.5 per cent. Overall, the companies’ business in Germany generated gross turnover of EUR 19.435 bn by the end of 2025. In the previous year, this figure stood at EUR 19.533 bn, representing a 0.7 per cent decline compared with the year before.

The DIY chain Hornbach achieved the highest growth in 2025 at 1.9 per cent, closely followed by Globus Baumarkt at 1.8 per cent. Obi ranks third in terms of growth with 0.6 per cent. Bauhaus follows with just 0.2 per cent – but continues to hold first place in terms of turnover, as it did for the first time in 2024. Rewe follows in the growth ranking with its retail chains Toom Baumarkt, B1-Discount-Baumarkt and Klee Gartencenter, recording a decline of 2.6 per cent.
