Romania will be Malaysian home goods powerhouse Mr. DIY’s 15th global location. The market will also be the third location for the Asian discounter in the European Union, after Spain and Poland. It comes one year after Mr. DIY entered South Africa, a new continent for the retail chain that owns and operates all its stores.
Mr. DIY Romania’s country website, which has been linked to the landing page of the group’s global website, indicates that the home improvement store will be opening on 14 March 2026. The store is part of Supernova Pitesti, a 45,000 m² shopping centre in Pitesti that has 90 stores, and 1,700 parking spaces. Pitesti, the capital of Arges County, is more than 100 km away from the capital city of Bucharest, where the company’s Romanian headquarters is located.
