Ikea has set up an online marketplace for second-hand items in its home market of Sweden. It went live at the end of January. The platform is already available in four other countries – Spain, Norway, Portugal and Poland. Here, customers can buy and sell used Ikea products locally.
The international furniture chain plans to make 170,000 offers available on the marketplace this year. Each item listed includes price recommendations, images and product dimensions.
The company had previously gained insights into customer preferences, pricing models and operational challenges in the second-hand market through pilot projects in Spain and Norway and the launch in Portugal and Poland in 2025. These insights have been incorporated into the design of the Swedish platform.
