Garden centres in Germany did not increase their sales in 2025. This was the conclusion reached by the German Garden Centre Association (VDG) at its winter conference.

The individual product groups developed very differently. All relevant plant product groups recorded a decline of between 2 and 4 per cent, and pots for indoor and outdoor use were also down by just under 2 per cent on the previous year's level. Only the perennial range maintained the previous year's level.

However, the entire living range performed well (+3 per cent), including a renaissance of silk flowers (+7.8 per cent) and good sales of Christmas items (+7 per cent). There were also double-digit increases in turnover in the garden centre cafeterias.
