The Russian DIY market is shrinking

The Russian DIY market is in crisis. After initial signs in the spring, it declined in the second half of the year. This is according to author Eugene Gerden in an article for DIY International, referring to the Russian statistics agency Rosstat. One of the main reasons is the decline in housing construction. Inflation and labour shortages are also contributing factors. Although some companies in the DIY sector are recording growth, the major chains Lemana Pro (formerly Leroy Merlin), Obi and Maxidom are reporting consistently high, in some cases double-digit, losses in sales.
