Gardena's sales slumped by 12 per cent to SEK 1.799 bn (EUR 164.2 mio) in the third quarter. This was announced by Husqvarna, Gardena's parent company, in a press release. Organically, sales fell by 7 per cent. Exchange rates had a negative impact of 5 per cent. Sales of irrigation products rose in the quarter, while sales of robotic mowers and hand tools declined. According to Husqvarna, the decline was mainly due to lower sales volumes.
For the current year, the Gardena Division, which comprises Husqvarna's consumer business, is seeing a 5 per cent decline in net sales to SEK 10.512 bn (EUR 959.5 mio). Organically, sales declined by 2 per cent, with exchange rates having a negative impact of 3 per cent. Sales of irrigation products performed well, while sales of hand tools declined. Overall, cost savings and efficiency improvements had a positive impact on earnings, while lower volumes had a negative impact.
