In 2024/2025, the European cross-border e-commerce market reached a volume of EUR 358.7 billion, of which EUR 247.5 billion, or 70 per cent, was achieved by online marketplaces. This is shown in the new report by Cross-Border Commerce, a platform for cross-border e-commerce in Europe.
According to the report, players such as Amazon and Ebay continue to dominate the market, accounting for over half of the marketplace business. The 100 largest cross-border marketplaces generated sales of EUR 216.82 billion, representing a slight increase of 10 per cent over the previous year.
Cross-Border Commerce expects the share of marketplaces in e-commerce volume to remain stable until 2026, and forecasts an increase in total cross-border volume.
