The first Mr. DIY store in South Africa will be located in a wealthy suburban district in Pretoria, the country’s administrative capital, an official of the company said. In a Linkedin post confirming that Mr. DIY South Africa will be "opening soon", Jamie Williams, Mr. DIY head of business development for South Africa, said that the Malaysian home goods retailer’s first outlet will be in Menlyn. The area is around 1,500 km from Cape Town, where Mr. DIY’s country headquarters are located.
"Mr. DIY South Africa is incoming. Menlyn will be our first world-class store to hit the African shores. Over 4600 stores globally and growing fast. Stay tuned," Williams posted.
This confirms an earlier DIY International report that Mr. DIY was already setting up in South Africa, making it the Asian retailing giant’s 14th market, 13th international presence, and first foray into the African continent…
