Adela Smeu is stepping down as CEO of Brico Dépôt Romania, according to Romanian B2B magazine Bricoretail. „For me, today is a day that also marks a change on a personal level – after 10 years in Brico, I am stepping down from the role of CEO. It has been 10 years in which I have built and worked with exceptional people,“ Smeu wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Smeu joined Brico Dépôt Romania as CFO in 2015 and became CEO in 2017. She also played a key role in the acquisition and integration of the Praktiker România S.A. stores, according to the company. In addition, Smeu joined the management board of the Kingfisher Group, the parent company of Brico Dépôt, in February 2020.

Smeu's departure as CEO follows the completion of the sale of the DIY chain to Romanian electronics chain Altex. Kingfisher confirmed the completion of the transaction, worth around EUR 70 m, in a separate press release. The…
