Hornbach stores post 6.4 per cent growth after three quarters

The Hornbach stores increased their net sales by 6.4 per cent in the first nine months of the 2022/2023 financial year.

The DIY stores of the German retailer Hornbach increased their net sales by 6.4 per cent to EUR 4.6671 bn in the first three quarters (ending 30 November 2022) of the 2022/2023 financial year. Like-for-like and currency-adjusted growth in the first nine months amounted to 3.4 per cent.

Net sales at Hornbach stores in Germany rose by 3.3 per cent to EUR 2.2924 bn in the same period. Like-for-like sales rose by 2.9 per cent. Net sales outside Germany grew by 9.6 per cent to EUR 2.3747 bn. The foreign share of sales rose from 49.4 per cent to 50.9 per cent. On a like-for-like basis and adjusted for currency effects, sales in other European countries increased by 4.0 per cent.

Online sales (including click & collect) were at a significantly higher level than before the Covid pandemic and accounted for 14.5 per cent of total sales in the first three quarters, the company notes. Compared with the same period last year, online sales declined by 12.1 per cent to EUR

677.1 mio. In the third quarter, however, they increased by 11.8 per cent compared with the same quarter in the previous year.

Total sales at Hornbach DIY stores also showed double-digit year-on-year growth in the period from September to November, rising by 10.1 per cent to EUR 1.4304 bn. In Germany, the growth rate for the quarter amounted to 8.2 per cent, while abroad it was 11.9 per cent.
