After announcing its new turnkey franchise model in 2020, Ace Hardware has opened its first store under the model in Mexico, located in Monterrey. The US cooperative plans to open 13 additional stores by the end of 2022. Miguel Brunell is the Mexican franchisee who operates the store. With 15 employees, the new Ace Hardware store occupies around 1 400 m², with 200 m² set aside as a showroom featuring decorative tiles, plumbing fixtures and bathroom accessories.
"Mexico is a growing market, particularly for home improvement," said Macedonio Garza, Ace Mexico country manager. "With the demand for home repair, maintenance and improvement products on the rise, this is the perfect opportunity to introduce Ace Hardware, a convenient and helpful hardware store model, to serve our neighbours in Mexico."
The franchise programme in Mexico offers a variety of flexible store formats ranging from 300 m² to 3 000 m² and offers both Mexican and global brands to meet the needs of the home improvement consumer. The cooperative has a staff of 27 at its office in Monterrey. The Ace group now operates in approximately 70 countries and has opened more than 900 stores globally in the past five years.
