The demand for swimming pools in Austria grew this year by 22 per cent compared to the previous year. Growths were achieved in particular by the comparably low-price self-assembly pools. This is shown by current data from a study by the market research institute Branchenradar.com with a market analysis on the subject of swimming pools. Overall, experts are expecting sales of almost 12 400 pieces, from larger high-grade steel basins in open-air pools to simple self-assembly pools. Inflatable swimming pools, paddling pools and self-erecting air-ring pools are not included in these figures.
The sharp upswing is, according to Branchenradar, essentially due to the restrictions on going out and school closures during lockdown as well as the intensive utilisation of short-time work and working from home. The demand for self-assembly pools is expected to increase this year by 26 per cent compared to the previous year by a total of around 10 600 pieces. Much flatter, although just as expansive, is the development of the business with fitted pools. Compared to 2019, six per cent more are currently being sold here, a total of around 1 770 pieces. During the current year, only the private customer market is growing, while the demand for pools for commercial use has dropped by seven per cent compared to the previous year, according to the study.
