In Austria there was an outright onslaught of customers when the DIY stores were allowed to open again on Tuesday 14 April. DIY store operators confirm increased customer volume and long queues in front of the stores. There was talk of customer waiting times of up to two and a half hours. However the DIY stores emphasised that customers behaved exceptionally well and were disciplined while keeping to the regulations despite the waiting time. However in the meantime, it has become quieter again according to information from retailers. "It is also a fact that we currently have less customers in our stores on a daily basis than usual for days in April," reports a representative from Hornbach. The reason is said to be the store access restrictions and the partial shift of business to the online trade.
And that's how a customer recorded his impressions on Facebook.
