The South African chain of DIY stores Cashbuild made sales of ZAR 8.6 bn in the last financial year 2015/2016 (ending 30 June 2016). That is 11.9 per cent more than the previous year. The number of locations increased by 4.5 per cent to 232; as well as in South Africa (including Lesotho and Swaziland), they are also situated in Namibia, Botswana and Malawi. The ten Cashbuild DIY stores - a year ago it was still eleven - are not taken into account. The average basket size has increased by 5.9 per cent to ZAR 519.
On 1 June 2016 Cashbuild took over P&L Hardware. The group is a building materials retailer with 42 outlets in rural Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng. In June sales amounted to ZAR 61.5 mio.
