Wickes and Toolstation grow by more than ten per cent

The consumer division of the UK's Travis Perkins Group, which operates the Wickes DIY chain and small-format Toolstation distribution channel, increased its sales by 10.5 per cent in the first six months of the year. Like-for-like sales increased by 6.5 per cent. According to the group, both Wickes and Toolstation recorded market-leading like-for-like sales growth, with both gaining significant share.
In Wickes, the roll-out of new store formats continued with 14 stores refitted, one new store opened and one store relocated, according to the interim results report. There are now 32 new format stores in the network of 236 shops. The programme to roll out further new formats will continue in the second half of the year. Toolstation opened 16 new stores in the UK, and an additional five new stores in the Netherlands. Travis Perins' consumer division (Wickes, Toolstation, Tile Giant) now has a network of 589 branches.
