Increase in Travis Perkins’ retail trade

The British construction material group Travis Perkins, to which the Wickes stores belong, increased the sales of its retail division by 7.3 per cent from January to September, compared to the same period last year. The like-for-like increase was 5.1 per cent, even though the development in the third quarter was worse than before, with an increase of only 4.9 per cent (like-for-like 2.3 per cent) from July to September. The quarterly report states that it was not until September that the turnover of the main distribution chain Wickes saw an increase again.
Among other things, the company is testing a new store concept for Wickes. There are currently five Wickes stores in the new format.
The mail order format Toolstation, which is often located within the Wickes’ stores, has introduced a new click & collect within one hour ordering system for all locations.
