Europe's consumers are intending to spend less on DIY projects this year

The Cetelem credit bank's European consumer barometer reveals that Europe's consumers are intending to spend less on DIY projects this year. Their consumption plans for 2007 have declined by 4 per cent in a European comparison. The biggest decline of 25 per cent is evident in Russia, followed by Hungary (-15 per cent) and Slovakia (-11 per cent). By contrast, though, growth is on the cards for Belgium (+11 per cent), France (+10 per cent) and Britain (+7 per cent).
