The Cetelem credit bank's European consumer barometer reveals that Europe's consumers are intending to spend less on DIY projects this year. Their consumption plans for 2007 have declined by 4 per cent in a European comparison. The biggest decline of 25 per cent is evident in Russia, followed by Hungary (-15 per cent) and Slovakia (-11 per cent). By contrast, though, growth is on the cards for Belgium (+11 per cent), France (+10 per cent) and Britain (+7 per cent).
