More exhibitors from China and Taiwan
This year’s Hong Kong International Hardware and Home Improvement Fair, the multi-fair event for the building, hardware and DIY industries held in Hong Kong between 10 and 12 October, was much more popular among exhibitors from the “Greater China” market (People’s Republic of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong). According to information from the fair organisers, participation rose to 42 companies in the case of the PRC and to 41 companies for Taiwan. Hong Kong was represented by 55 businesses. Altogether there were 155 exhibitors present at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Attending the fair were 3 616 buyers from 69 countries and regions, with local buyers constituting the majority (2 728). The clear trend shown by the exhibitor figures was continued in the Top Ten visitor countries: Heading the table were the People’s Republic of China (324) and Taiwan (70), followed by the USA (55), Japan (47), Canada (39), the Philippines (37) and the United Kingdom (29). The strong presence of the Republic of China at the event once again put the fair in a position to promote its image as a suitable forum for entering this market.
Fair premiere in Israel
Israel’s first DIY trade fair will be taking place in Tel Aviv from 20 to 22 May 2002 under the name of D.I.Y. 2002. The approximately 300 exhibitors will have an exhibition area of about 20 000 m² at their disposal. The organisers are reckoning with an attendance figure of 50 000.
Under one roof
The two Swedish timber trade fairs, Elmia Timber at Jönköping and Trä & Teknik at Göteborg, are to be combined into one. The new exhibition will be held annually and will alternate between the two fair sites used up to now. The first joint date is August 2002 at Göteborg.
World ceramic tile market
This year again Cersaie lived up to its reputation as a major ceramics fair. Presenting their ranges of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings over the exhibition space of 136 000 m² in Bologna between 2 and 7 October were 1 072 exhibitors from 30 countries. A total of 108 630 trade visitors, 22 per cent of them from 138 countries, registered their participation at the six-day event.
Building fair in Switzerland
From 22 to 26 January experts in the building field will be meeting up again at Swissbau and Metallbau, held concurrently in Basel. About 800 exhibitors at the two shows will be displaying their current new developments and ranges on an area of more than 35 000 m².
