It was 1927 when company founder Emil Lerp actually used his first chainsaw. Today the company numbers among the internationally leading manufacturers of powered tools for the home and garden, and for local authority, agricultural and forestry work as well; it generated a turnover of 73.7 mio euro over the most recent financial year.
New to the programme is the pro chainsaw with a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.37 kg/kW.
The long history of this company has from the start been marked by one feature that is still valid today: innovative power. In 1938 the company launched its “Type CL” model, a petrol-operated chainsaw which was so ahead of its time that it continued to be produced over a period of almost 30 years. Production of the world’s first one-man petrol-engined chainsaw started up as along ago as 1952. Only a few years later Dolmar consolidated its leading market position with lighter, easy to handle models.
The physical strain on the users of petrol chainsaws was noticeably reduced by the introduction of the double-mass vibration damper system in 1972. Then in 1987 the company introduced the world’s first petrol chainsaw with a pressure-injection carburettor, followed in the year 2000 by what it claims to be the world’s first prototype four-stroke petrol chainsaw, which remains well within the tough US exhaust emission requirements.
The innovative handle system of the pro electric hedge trimmer makes work easier by offering a greater working radius.
But Dolmar has made a name for itself not only where petrol chainsaws are concerned. The power cutters launched in 1997 are allowing the Hamburg manufacturer to continue to consolidate its market position with above-average growth. Today the firm claims to have over a ten per cent share of the world market for power cutters. The development of new products and the continuing enhancement of its existing product portfolio goes on at full stretch in order to safeguard this growth. New products include the professional electric hedge trimmer, which features an innovative handle system that makes work easier for the user by offering a greater working radius, and the chainsaw for professionals, which has a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.37 kg/kW. Further new products will be on view at this year’s Gafa trade fair in Cologne.
