The British discounter B&M has taken over the French discount chain Babou. Babou has 95 locations with an average retail space of 2 700 m². The most recent annual sales amounted to EUR 347.1 mio. The assortment range which comprises around 30 000 SKUs consists mostly of fashion, home textiles and household products. The previous Babou CEO Thierry Morter has handed over his position with the acquisition. His successor is Cédric Mahieu who was been with B&M since January 2018 and who helped prepare the takeover. Until now, PIM Participations, a private family owned investment company in France, held all shares in Babou which B&M has now has purchased.
