Net sales at non-food discounter Action rose by 17.2 per cent to EUR 3.5 bn in the first quarter of 2025 compared with the same quarter last year. Like-for-like sales growth was 6.2 per cent, according to the Dutch company. It also emphasises that an average of 19.7 million customers visit one of its 2,967 stores every week, 2.9 million more than in the same period last year. Forty-nine new locations were added in the first quarter alone. The company is on track to achieve its goal of adding at least one store per day on average and a total of around 370 new stores by 2025, it added. The retailer expects to reach the 3,000-store mark in the second quarter of 2025.

As planned, Action opened its first store in Switzerland at the beginning of April. This is the 13th country in Europe where the discounter is represented. Two further Swiss locations have since been added.
