Praktiker Poland has vanished from the market

Praktiker Poland is no more. The five stores remaining have been liquidated with their stock, as reported in the Polish newspaper Puls Biznesu and other media. According to these, the wholesale group 3W Dystrybucja Budowlana latterly showed interest in a takeover after an initial restructuring failed and Praktiker Poland was declared insolvent in September 2017. However, negotiations with the landlords could not resolve the issue; the debts of at least PLN 144 mio (EUR 33.5 mio) were too high. The trustee then decided on complete liquidation.
