DIY stores in Germany fell just short of last year’s figures in terms of turnover in the first quarter. Their total gross turnover of EUR 4.53 bn was 0.9 per cent below that of the first three months of 2025. On a like-for-like basis, the decline was 0.5 per cent. These figures from the GfK Total Store Report were published by the German DIY trade association BHB.

However, the performance of product ranges in German DIY and garden centres varied considerably. In Germany, the leisure/seasonal goods (+18.3 per cent), household goods (+9.4 per cent) and automotive (+9.3 per cent) segments performed particularly well in the first three months of the year. By contrast, there were significant declines in garden furniture (-12.4 per cent), tiles (-10.2 per cent) and garden equipment (-7.4 per cent).
