DIY sales in Germany continue to fall in February

Following a slight decline in January, DIY store sales in Germany fell further in February. Retail sales of metal goods, paints and building and DIY supplies were down by 1.9 per cent in nominal terms and 2.6 per cent in real terms compared with February 2025. These preliminary figures were published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

The overall picture for the retail sector is more positive. Total turnover for retail businesses in Germany rose by 1.6 per cent in nominal terms and 0.7 per cent in real terms in February compared with the same month last year.
