Europe remains the core market for the laminate flooring industry, as confirmed by the latest figures from the European Laminate Flooring Association (EPLF): In 2025, more than 80 per cent of its members’ total sales were accounted for by this continent – despite a less favourable global environment for construction and renovation projects, industry representatives emphasise. Whilst general demand weakened over the course of the year, market developments varied significantly across the different regions. According to the EPLF, this reflects differences in local construction activity and market maturity.

Total sales by EPLF members amounted to 263.4 million m² last year, a decline of 6.5 per cent compared to 2024 (281.6 million m²). Western Europe, which accounts for 58 per cent of the EPLF’s total sales, recorded the most moderate decline among the major regions. Sales fell to 151.8 million m² in 2025, a decrease of 5.62 per cent compared with 2024. France remained largely stable at 30.4 million m² (-0.59 per cent). Germany and the UK, two of the region’s largest markets, recorded declines of 8.22 per cent (30.3 million m²) and 5.47 per cent (21.6 million m²).

Eastern Europe accounted for 23 per cent of the EPLF’s total sales last year. Here, 61.6 million m² of laminate flooring was sold, an increase of 2.56 per cent compared to 2024. Poland grew by 3.55 per cent to 21.9 million m². Romania grew by 9.3 per cent with sales of 9.8 million m².

Outside Europe, the declines were more pronounced. In North America, a 12.40 per cent drop compared to 2024 reflected weaker construction activity and subdued demand for housing, according to the association. Latin America experienced a decline of 20.61 per cent, whilst sales in Asia fell by 24.53 per cent. Africa suffered the sharpest regional decline at 31.55 per cent. Sales volumes also fell in Australia and Oceania, with a 17 per cent drop compared to 2024.

Industry representatives report that 2025 was characterised by adjustments. Regional differences suggested that market conditions were evolving at different paces rather than following a single global pattern. “In 2026, the industry is likely to continue to face a difficult construction environment,” forecasts the EPLF. The association’s members continue to focus on innovation, sustainability, product quality and good value for money.
