Pavăl Holding, majority shareholder of Dedeman, is taking a strategic step in Romania: with the planned acquisition of Carrefour Romania, the holding company is expanding its portfolio to include the food retail segment. Negotiations for the €823 million company began in mid-February, and approval for the contract is expected in the second half of 2026.
As Carrefour announced in a press release, the company operates a multi-format network of 478 stores in Romania, including 55 hypermarkets, 191 supermarkets, 202 convenience stores and 30 discounters – with gross sales of €3.2 billion in 2024 and 2025. Carrefour has been present on the Romanian market since 2001 and also has an online shop.
