The French DIY market shrank by 3.2 per cent in 2025, while the volume of the gardening market declined by 1.1 per cent. These figures were published by market research company NielsenIQ and reported by trade publication Zepros. According to the figures, the total DIY and gardening market, with a volume of EUR 32.5 bn, declined by 2.7 per cent, with EUR 24.2 bn attributable to the DIY sector and EUR 8.2 bn to the gardening sector.
Among the various distribution channels in the DIY market, DIY stores still account for a 62 per cent share. Their sales declined by 2.9 per cent, which is slightly less than the DIY market as a whole. Large-scale food retailers saw a 5.6 per cent decline in sales of these product ranges. The only winners – albeit at a low level – were multi-specialists in the household appliances sector, with an increase of 22.6 per cent.
