Leroy Merlin France is getting a new chief executive. Agathe Monpays, who is only 28 years old, will be at the helm of France's largest DIY chain from September 2023, according to parent company Adeo. She is currently managing director of Leroy Merlin in Greece and Cyprus. She succeeds Thomas Bouret (51), who joins Adeo as director of international development.

Adeo CEO Philippe Zimmermann is quoted in the press release as saying that the company is proud to have talent from within the company at all levels of responsibility. Agathe Monpays embodies a career "in perfect harmony with our convictions about the value of human and professional competence”. He adds that "Agathe Monpays has our full confidence."

Agathe Monpays first moved into direct marketing after her studies. She joined Leroy Merlin in 2016 as head of department in Valenciennes. From 2020 to 2022, she managed the Tourcoing store. Under her leadership, she said the store had become a pioneer of omnichannel transformation and had moved towards a positive energy balance.

Thomas Bouret has worked at Leroy Merlin since 1997. After several postings in France, he became managing director of Leroy Merlin in Italy in 2011, and in France in 2014. Two years later, he moved to Brazil as regional director.
